So you live in Newcastle ands want to recieve The GRN
and you bought
a band new 780xlt oh oh oh oh oh!
you unpack it and you read the manual but you cant find how to do it
but you
know the grn freq for New lambton and Sugarloaf.
ok im still reading the manual and i may one day master the UBC780XLT
but heres the shortcuts to get you up and running.
Step 1.
press the [menu] button and select
"trunk
data"[enter]-
(use the vfo/select to bring it up or just press 3)
then choose the bank for this example
"bank
1"[enter]
"trunk type"[enter]
choose [type 2 uhf](number 4)[enter]
"base config 1"[enter][413.100][enter]
"space
freq 1."[12.5][enter]
"offset Channel" [723][enter]
"base config 2"[415.000][enter]
"space freq 2"[12.5][enter]
"offset ch. 2" [748][enter]
"base config 3" [415.575][enter]
"space freq 3" [12.5]
"offset ch. 3" [380][enter]
and thats all you need to type in now press
[menu],[menu],[menu],[menu],[menu]
and that should bring you back to the scanning screen....
now program your freqs
For New Lambton
1. 416.2500 (this is the control channel and you would
hear data)
2. 416.5000
3. 417.0000
4. 417.2500
5. 417.5000
6. 417.7500
7. 413.2500
8. 415.0000
9. 416.7500
for Mt Sugarloaf
1. 416.1875 (this is the control channel
and you would hear data) 2 416.2500

once programmed go back to each channel
and press and
hold the [trunk] button until a "m" is
displayed above the freq and repeat for all channels.
then you are ready
press the[scan] button
press the [trunk] button
and then the [search] button]
what this does is set the
scanner searching and it should display
the id numbers of the talkgroups.

Easy guide to programming your 245XLT to trunk on NSW GRN
Just follow
step by step
Turn scanner on, press
and hold the 'TRUNK" key for a couple of seconds. You will hear 2 beeps and bank and trunk will flash on the display. The
scanner is in trunk mode now.
Select
the bank you want to use for Trunking the GRN by pressing the bank number - 1 through to 0
Select
the type of system you want to track. Press the 'up arrow / hold' key or the 'down arrow / limit' key until the display shows
E2 UHF. Press 'E'.
Enter
each of the frequencies of the desired trunk site. Use the 'up arrow' key to move to the next channel position. If you make
a mistake press the ' . ' (decimal point) key twice to clear a wrong entry. Enter all the channels for the site, including
the Data channel.

Press
the 'data' key. The display will show the letters 'bAS and the frequency 406.000. Change this to 415.575, this is a base frequency
used by the GRN then press 'E'.
Press
the 'data' key again, and the display will show OFS 50.0, change this to 12.5
Press
'search' to begin Trunking on the GRN and searching for talk groups.
You can obtain some talk group Ids from elsewhere on this
site. They can be entered by pressing
hold (the screen should display
- - - - -) enter in the ID such as 13104 and press E. Press hold again to move to the next empty location.
